Information We Collect

Email Address: When you join our waitlist or create an account, we collect your email address to communicate with you about VidSkimmer.

YouTube Video Data: When you request a summary, VidSkimmer retrieves the transcript of the YouTube video you're viewing. This data is processed to generate your summary and is not stored permanently.

Usage Data: We track how many summaries you've generated to manage usage limits. We do not track which specific videos you summarize.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide video summaries through our service
• To manage your account and subscription
• To send you service-related communications
• To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse

Third-Party Services

Anthropic (Claude API): Video transcripts are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate summaries. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of this data. We do not send any personally identifiable information to Anthropic—only the video transcript text.

Payment Processing: If you subscribe to VidSkimmer Pro, payments are processed by LemonSqueezy. We do not store your payment card information.

Data Storage and Security

Your email and account information are stored securely on our servers. Video transcripts are processed in real-time and are not permanently stored. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data.

Local Processing

VidSkimmer runs primarily on your local machine. The Windows application processes requests locally before sending transcript data for summarization. Your browsing history and video viewing habits are not tracked or transmitted to us.

Your Rights

You may:

• Request access to your personal data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time
• Export your account data

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Children's Privacy

VidSkimmer is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
